Terminator Salvation

I JUST got back from watching Terminator Salvation. First of all, let me say that I have never been a huge fan of McG. I don't like Charlie's Angels and even the Yo Quiero Taco Bell commercials grew tired. However, I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt with the new Terminator movie. I wasn't sure what they could possibly do with this franchise. There are only so many ways to make the Terminators more nasty and only so many ways to save poor, little John Connor. I have to say, however, that this movie had me. It was fun, action packed and paid tribute to its good predecessors (meaning NOT T3) in really creative ways. I was HOOKED! I was ready to yell right there in the movie theater. Then came the end. McG pulled it off up to that point and I refuse to let McG take the fall for it. It reeked of "producer interference." I definitely blame the producers. Sometimes, the producers just need to let the writers write, the actors act and the directors direct. Honestly, the ending really annoyed me. There were sooooooo many ways it could have gone but it went the way that it did. Rumor has it that the real ending was leaked on the internet so they went and changed it. Rumor also has it that there will be about 3 different endings when it comes out on DVD. Thank goodness!!! This reminds me of Blade Runner and Brazil where the producers went in and did what they thought would work best. Maybe once the hype about TS settles, McG will be able to release a director's cut of this movie. If the ending IS his, then I am really disappointed. I really hope it isn't though. I am still going to recommend that you go watch Terminator Salvation. It is a good action flick that could have had a better ending. Go see it before Skynet finds you!
